Paleface Swiss Winnipeg Concert reviews
Overall bad experience
"Terrible experience," but 'Paleface Swiss' was great. I purchased "best available" mezzanine seats within 10 minutes of the tickets going on sale. We were on the aisle, in the center. Our view was blocked by a raised railing the Aztec had installed at the end of each aisle; it completed obstructed the center of the stage. We complained and the attendant moved us off to the side to one of the many empty seats. In the first 3 mezzanine rows, only about a third were being used. We inquired as to why. I was surprised they were 5 rows back but hey, 'Paleface Swiss' is very popular. We arrived at 7:00 (the time on the ticket). 8 o'clock rolled around and still no music. Then an opening act came on (we didn't know there would be one), then a 20-minute break, then 'Paleface Swiss's band came on, but no 'Paleface Swiss'. Instead, his guitarist played a 30+ minute set. Then another break. We had been there for over 3 hours before 'Paleface Swiss' came on after 10:00. We sat in our "best available" seats behind a lot of better, empty seats. You might wonder how I had so much time to gather all this information. The attendant said they were reserved for ticket holders who wanted to "upgrade" their tickets once they arrived at the theater. He sounded great, but he was clearly irritated because the stage lights malfunctioned the entire set. He sang in the dark the whole night. His backup singer made the matter worse by walking on and off the stage constantly, clearly pissed -- during songs, between songs and then reporting to 'Paleface Swiss' repeatedly, presumably about the lighting problems. It was extremely distracting. The Aztec was not. We were great 'Paleface Swiss' and his band. I will not be returning to this venue.
